Daddy Time

These girls sure do love their daddy. Every day when he comes home from work, there are squeals of delight and they both start talking at the same time, telling him the day's events. Most of the time, he doesn't even get to change his clothes, before they've got him playing a game or watching a show with them.
Then it's on to circus tricks with Lydia, that usually ends in her crying because she doesn't want to stop playing.
And finally, when Lydia's in bed, Madeline and Daddy get to have their own special time for games like Lite Brite.

Dress Up

Lydia loves dressing up. She's always bringing me a costume, saying " Help me put this on". Yesterday she was Sleeping Beauty (or as she would say "sweeping booty"), Cinderella, and Dora Pirate. This morning, she was dressed as a witch. Madeline is kind of phasing out of dressing up. But there's one character she's really looking forward to dressing up as.......Glinda the Good Witch for her birthday party. Here are a couple of pics from yesterday. Madeline finally let me take her picture.

Flashback: Thirty-four years

Today's quote from my daily desk calendar:

"Grown don't mean nothing to a mother. A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown. In my heart it don't mean a thing."

Today is my 34th birthday. It's been a good one. Madeline gifted me with a Carolina hat that I bought a couple of years ago. She did a great job wrapping it. She also gave me piece of paper with her name written very neatly on it. She's so thoughtful. Mrs. Grimes prepared a wonderful lunch after church. We had delicious red velvet cake and I was showered with more gifts. I'm so grateful for all the gifts in my life....... especially my husband who is working as I type to provide for his family. And for our precious little girls.....one who's begging to watch Full House and the other one who is sobbing and fighting sleep in her Dora bed. Here's to many more years treasuring my most precious gifts...

The Circus

We took the girls to the circus Friday night. Even though our seats were in the nosebleed section, they still had a great time. Here, Lydia gets a better view with the binoculars. There was lots for them to see. The animals were a huge hit: dogs, cats, horses, elephants, and tigers.
Lydia almost made it through the show, but the sandman had other plans.
The sandman got Madeline on the way home, but not before she checked out her circus program.

Flashback Friday

This picture was taken about 2 years ago. It's one of the last pictures taken before Madeline knocked her top front tooth out. The girls have changed a lot in two years....but they still have those big, bright eyes and that smile! Have a good weekend!

"ba-sketti"

Tonight, we had spaghetti (aka ba-sketti) for dinner. The girls love it. We have learned that the best way to feed Lydia spaghetti is to strip her down to her diaper.

AND THIS IS WHY!!!!!!!

Madeline doesn't require such extreme measures... a simple bib will do.

Snow Day

There was lots of excitement in our house this morning when the girls looked out the window and saw that is was snowing.....big fluffy flakes. They were so cute sitting at the table, eating their breakfast and talking about the snow. We were outside playing in it before 10am. It's a good thing we did, because very soon after, it started to turn into rain and slush. Madeline immediately fell to the ground to make a snow angel.

Lydia wanted to make some snow balls. We actually made a miniature snowman .....very miniature, because he is perched on the porch railing. By this time, Madeline was wanting to go in, because it was starting to get colder and the little noses were getting redder.

Once inside, we all warmed up with some hot chocolate. Much better!
Have a good day!
