Memorial Day Weekend

We spent the holiday weekend camping at Jordan Lake.

The girls had lots of fun.

They rode their bikes.

They roasted marshmallows.

And made SMORES........yum.

They swam in the lake and played in the sand.

And yesterday, we went to the family pool!

It was a big weekend. We topped it off by taking them to see Nim's Island at the Howell Theater last night.

Preschool Field Trip

Lydia's preschool class took their last field trip of the year to Banks Miniature Horse Farm on Monday. All the kids loved the miniature horses and the donkey, in the above picture.

This mini-mama is bathing her new baby horse.

All the kids line up and wait for Mr. Banks to call the horses, so they will not be bombarded by all the preschoolers.

They loved petting them.

I think the horses were getting a little overstimulated after about an hour spent with all these energetic four year-olds.

Afterwards, we had lunch at Burger King. Lydia makes a silly face with her friends Lauren and Mia.

Dancing Queens

The past week has been very busy, especially with dance. The girls had their recital today and did a great job. Here are a few pics taken this week at the rehearsal and at the recital.

Madeline striking a pose.

Lydia just before going on stage.

After the recital........they did NOT want their pictures taken. Why??

They wanted to go home and eat the cake that I made them for a job well done. Now with children's choir and dance over for this year, our Wednesdays will be a little less busy!

Flashback Friday :: Love You Forever

I was looking through some pictures and found these two of where the girls had fallen asleep in my arms. I'm glad I have these pictures, because it's been over a year ago when this happened and I don't think it's happened since. Madeline has matured so much over the past year and doesn't actually get in my lap that much. She does like to chill out with me on the sofa some, but I think the days of her getting in my lap and falling asleep are almost over. Sigh.... Lydia's just so busy and wide open that she can hardly be still enough to sit in my lap, never mind actually fall asleep. Looking at these pictures reminds me of one of the girls' favorite books, Love You Forever. I know soon there will be a new baby to hold. That is, if the girls will let me.

Butterflies and Daisies

The girls had to dress is full costume and make-up yesterday for dance lessons. They had their pictures taken and practiced their dance routines for their upcoming recital.

They were very excited about wearing "real" make-up.
Here's the Daisy.

And the butterfly. Next week they get to practice on the "big stage" at JCC.

Pickin' Strawberries

Lydia's preschool class took a field trip to Smith's Nursery last week. Lydia had been talking about going to pick strawberries for weeks.

She was a little grumpy when we got there because she didn't get to pick strawberries immediately. Instead, she had to learn about bees, bee-hives, and birds. As soon as she got her bucket, she was in a much better mood.
Of course she ate as she picked. She actually did a good job of picking strawberries and only needed a little assistance.
Our bucket of strawberries never even made it off of the counter. We devoured them within about a day!
