Beach Babes

We spent all of last week at Atlantic Beach. The weather was perfect and the beaches were not crowded. We had a very nice and relaxing vacation.

Madeline posing for the camera.

Could Lydia have a future modeling career?

David taught Madeline how to boogie board while we were there.

Lydia is such a ham for the camera.

Margo's debut on the beach. Of course, I had to put her bathing suit on for the picture.

Margo actually spent some time on the beach with Mommy under the umbrella. It wasn't too hot and there was a great breeze blowing. I made sure that my baby didn't get sunburned.

David dug this huge hole on the beach and it kept the girls very entertained.

They spent lots of time at the pool too.

Our first vacation as a family of five..... making memories.

Madeline P. Grimes, First Grader

Today was the first day of school. Madeline was excited and has been ready for school to start for a while now.

Madeline walked right in like an old pro. I guess kindergarten definitely prepared her for first grade. It seems like just yesterday, she was starting school.

I hope she will do as well this year as she did last year. It's amazing how much she has learned. She read lots of Junie B. Jones this summer and kept up her artistic skills. When I picked her up today, she said she had a good day and likes her teacher. And of course when we got home, she started playing "school" with Lydia. Margo slept through today's lesson.

Pictures and Bribery

Yesterday, I did the unthinkable.....I took all three girls to have their pictures taken. I don't know if it's just me, but this has never been an enjoyable task for me as a mother. It certainly doesn't get easier by adding more subjects to the photo. Most of our photo sessions end up with threats, frustration, and of course, bribery. As you can tell from the new header, I got a decent picture of all three of them. I was very pleased. My bribery paid off, because Madeline and Lydia earned their trip to the mall to ride the carousel and get a cookie.
By the time we got around to the beach scene (along with wardrobe changes), Margo was getting fussy& sleepy and the girls were getting silly. All of them were well OVER having their pictures taken. That's OK....I plan on getting some "real" beach pictures when we go next week!
Margo did well for her individual shots.....considering she's only 6 weeks old. I wasn't even sure if she would be awake.
So overall, it was a success. I guess the next biggie will be the Christmas pictures!

Smiles

Margo has been smiling and cooing for a couple of weeks now. The smiles are starting to get bigger and are happening more frequently.

Here she is about to crack one......

.........now it's a full-blown grin.

I like how this picture shows off her cute little dimple. I've had a hard time getting a picture of it until today.

Here's another smile. Below are some pictures that have made us smile:

Madeline's big brown eyes underneath her butterfly face painting.

The Baby Bjorn! We've definitely gotten our money's worth with this piece of baby gear. All of our girls have loved it and so do we!

She's not there yet, but with some more practice, she will be!

Surfing Through the Scriptures

Last week, the girls attended Vacation Bible School. The theme was "Surfing through the scriptures". They had a lot of fun and looked forward to going each night.

On the last night, Mr. Richard Williams entertained them with his classic story of "Herman the Worm". This was the first time Lydia heard him tell this and I could hear her belly-laughing from where I was sitting.

Here they are posing with their sunglasses they got at VBS. It was a good week and Margo and I enjoyed the break each night. Somehow for those few hours, the house wasn't quite as noisy!
Below is a video clip of one of their songs about the Beatitudes.
