Beach Week

FINALLY!!!! I'm getting around to posting some pictures from our week at Atlantic Beach. We had a great time and didn't want to leave, but we are now back into the swing of things. The girls started back with dance lessons this week and Madeline will have her first piano lesson this afternoon. Choir will start in a couple of weeks. Needless to say, we'll be staying busy going here and there and everywhere!

We had gorgeous weather the entire week and it didn't rain until the day we had to leave.
David dug a huge hole for the girls to play in. They loved it.

Most days, we were on the beach during low tide. It was the perfect time to play in the water. David went out with the girls with the boogie board and tube. They loved it. Madeline (who has complained the past few beach trips about the rough waves, sand, etc.) was even requesting to go to the beach and ride the waves!

Margo enjoyed walking on the beach. Nice wide open spaces for her to perfect her walking.

On Friday, we went with the Westbrooks to Shackleford Island. We actually got to see the wild horses and got pretty close to them. This was a first for me. I had never been there.

The horses even made their way out on the beach. It was very neat to be sitting on the beach and look up and see the wild horses wandering around.

Afterwards, we went over to Sand Dollar Island. We found lots of sand dollars!

The water there was very shallow and Margo thought she was in a huge bathtub! She loved splashing around there.

Look at these two. One minute they're loving each other and the next minute about to kill each other! Sisterly love.

The girls posed with Elvis outside of Yana's in Swansboro. We love to have breakfast there.

After Yana's, we took the girls to ride the bumper boats. It was too hot for putt-putt. David took them back for putt-putt the next day when it wasn't so hot and slathered them in sunscreen. Margo and I stayed at the condo. She napped and I did some laundry.

David and the girls outside of the Four Corners Diner.

At the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium. David told Lydia to stick her head in the alligator's mouth for the picture. She was more than happy to pose.

Looking at the stingrays. Margo wanted to drink the water.

Looking at the sharks. Margo seemed to really enjoy everything at the aquarium. The sea turtles were her favorite.

Margo's first boat ride. This was on the way to Shackleford Island. She fell asleep on the way there.

David took Madeline and Lydia to Fort Macon on Saturday.

It was a great beach week and I'm already looking forward to next year's trip.

I still have a few pictures and a video that I want to post, but I am missing my camera card from our small camera that I carry around all the time. I don't know if it got vacuumed, thrown out, or if Margo got her hands on it. Anyway, I've about turned the house upside down looking for it. Hopefully it will turn up and I can post a few more things.

Greetings from the BEACH

We are enjoying our last days at the beach and have had an awesome week. Here are just a few
pictures of the girls. They have been staying very busy and having tons of fun. I will try to upload more pictures as the internet/blogger allows. We have dial-up at our condo and wi-fi at the pool. So I'm acutally blogging this poolside.

Flashback Friday :: Firstborn

This afternoon Madeline and I are taking a road trip by ourselves and spending the night in a hotel. We're going to spend some much needed one-on-one time together and just hang out. We're also going to go to "Aunt V's" baby shower on Saturday. She is so excited and has been saying all week, "I can't wait 'til Friday". I hope from time to time I can take each of the girls on a special outing. I think it will make for good childhood memories and do our hearts good.
David said the other night, " You know Madeline's gonna talk your ears off the whole way there, right?" Yeah, I know.

The Day She's Been Waiting For

Today is Lydia's first day of Kindergarten. Or as she says, "Kenda-god-un". She's been waiting for this day for a very long time. I think she was ready two years ago when Madeline started.

It's official. She's a big girl with her Tinkerbell backpack and Scooby-Doo lunchbox.

Another one of my babies going to school. Time flies.

She wanted me to take her picture in front of the school sign.

Walking down the hall.

With her teacher, Mrs. Embler. At orientation last week, Mrs. Embler said (to me), "Tell me about Lydia". I could tell her lots and lots about Lydia, but I think she'll find out pretty quickly what a whipper snapper she has on her hands!
I hope it will be a great year for Lydia.
