Spa Party

On Friday night the girls had their birthday spa party and sleepover. They were so excited and had been waiting for this night to come for a long time!

They were treated like little queens. They had facials, manicures, and pedicures.

Soaking their pretty little feet.....

Getting ready for bed. The Coats girls had already fallen asleep when this picture was taken.

Here they are eating popcorn and watching movies. Everything went well and I couldn't have asked for a better, more well-behaved group of girls. I think keeping them busy was key! And I must give a special shout-out to my two helpers, Sherry and Robin! I couldn't have done it without them!

hApPy biRtHdAy MADELINE!!!!!

Today is Madeline's 8th birthday! We've had a busy week and an especially busy Friday and Saturday.

Couldn't let the day slip by without a post about our sweet birthday girl.

We had a small family celebration today and a spa party and sleepover last night (and YES, we all survived!!) More to come on that later, because we're now off to a bonfire!

The saying is so cliche', but time really does fly and it's so hard to believe that this sweet bundle of joy is now EIGHT. It's been eight great years of parenthood. Thank you Madeline. We love you!

Six years ago today.....

we welcomed our second daughter, Lydia Claire, into the world! Madeline became a big sister. David and I began the man-to-man defense of parenting. (Now that we have three children, we've learned to play the zone defense. Ha!).

Wasn't she a doll?

She still is.

See that smirk on her face? Well, it's because she's about to do.....

...THIS!!!! This girl is a HOOT! And we love her and couldn't imagine life without her! It's been a quick six years, and she's definitely made our lives happier!

I'm taking this cookie cake to her class for an afternoon birthday snack.
Happy Birthday, Lydia! We love you!

Dress Up

Margo has really taken a liking to dressing up lately. She's definitely following in her big sisters' footsteps. They still enjoy dressing up. Here she is with a chef hat on, wanting to "took" (cook).

The other night she walked around in this get-up for about an hour. I'm guessing she was some kind of warrior.

This is what a toddler warrior does to one's living room with a box of tissues when left alone for just a few short minutes.

Cowgirl Margo

Dressed up as a princess, complete with the tiara, shoes, wand, necklace and tutu.

It's hard work dressing up....she quickly found her paci and her belly button. Bedtime followed as soon as we got all the princess attire off.

One of my very favorite things about little girls is how they love to dress up! Remember this picture of M&L as mama and baby?

Little Orphan Annie......

......finally has a HOME!!! This is Annie. She is a 2 1/2 year old mixed breed that we have been trialing for the last week with the Johnston County Animal Protection League. She has been in foster homes, but we are now going to be her forever home. We are scheduled to finalize her adoption today. She is very sweet. She is also very laid-back and a little on the shy side. She is starting to come out of her shell more and more each day. We didn't even hear her bark until the third day that we had her!
The girls love her and Margo thinks she has a big horsie now! We definitely found out with Kramer that a puppy and a toddler is not a good combo! We need a calm pet to balance out the pandemonium that often exists in our household. I think she's gonna work out just fine.

I would say that she has made herself at home, wouldn't you?
