Fall Break

The girls have been on fall break from school for almost two weeks now. We took our annual fall camping trip last weekend. This time we headed up to Charlottesville, Virginia. We stayed at a KOA campground and took advantage of some of the nearby tourist attractions.
We went to Monticello. The girls seemed to enjoy it. They had some kid-friendly activities like writing with quill pens and that seemed to be a hit!

All three posing...well, sort of. Lydia had been talking about going to the house that's on the back of a nickel for several weeks. She finally got to see it in person! When we got home from our trip, Lydia's dance teacher asked her how was her camping trip and Lydia responded, "Monticello was way fun!"

The weather was perfect for our entire trip!

Family Pic in front of the house.

After touring the house and gardens, we walked down to see Thomas Jefferson's grave. Lydia and Margo were running! In fact, Margo was pretty much running this whole day. She was a wild woman....all over the place at Monticello. She fell three times while we were there. And on our way back to the van, Lydia darted behind a car that was backing out and almost got ran over. Seriously. We have some wiggly children.

We also went to Luray Caverns.

A glimpse inside the caverns. The girls seemed to like this.

On the way back to our campsite, we took Skyline Dive and admired the beautiful mountains and fall foliage.

The leaves were starting to turn colors and made for nice scenery during our drive.

We drove through Big Meadows campground and saw lots of deer!

The girls made friends with Allie and Sarah, our neighbors at camp.

It was a good trip. We had a certain three year-0ld who was a little grumpy on the drive home. Good times, good times .

David and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, October 11th. The girls served us breakfast in bed that morning and we went out for a steak dinner that evening. It was a good day :) We are off to the State Fair tomorrow!
