Happy Birthday, Margo!!!

Today is Margo's 6th Birthday!  She had a great day.  We started off the day by going to church and then coming home to get ready for her Tea Party!

Here is the table....all set and just waiting for the guests to arrive.

I found this cute little teapot chalkboard at Michaels several weeks ago.  I just added a birthday greeting and hung it on the wreath on our front door.

Margo with her sisters and cousins (missing Avery and Connor).  Brayden was the lone gentleman at the party.  He and Margo are like peas and carrots, so of course, he was at the party.  He was the cutest little waiter.  He helped serve all the girls.  Madeline and Lydia were servers too.   They all did a great job helping with the party.

We had some fun activities.

Group shot of all the kids.  It was nice to have a small number--things stayed under control and it never got too chaotic.

All the girls brought their favorite dolls.  The dolls had their own private tea party in the play room.

My happy little girl!  She's such a spitfire, but we sure do love her.  Wishing her many, many more happy birthdays!

And because it's her birthday, here's a look back to when she was born.  Little did we know what we were in for with our third girl!

Our Summer So Far....

June 13th was the last day of school for the girls.  Here's Madeline on her last day of 6th grade....posing with Jack, of course.

And Lydia and Margo were excited about the last day.  Lydia wanted to wear the outfit she wore on the first day of 4th grade.  Thank goodness for leggings, because the dress is several inches shorter now.  The big girls did great on their EOG's.  They all got great report cards and end of the year  awards.  Lydia even got inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society.  So proud of our smart cookies! Lydia and Margo have a pretty short summer.  They will start back on July 21st as 1st and 5th graders. Madeline will start back at the end of August.

This was the scene when I went through the carpool line at the middle school on the last day of school.  All of the teachers and staff were lined up outside waving goodbye to all the students.

The next day David participated in the Three Little Pigs Triathlon (as he has done for the past several years).  He had family participating too (cousin, spouses of cousins, brother-in-law).  Here are the girls with David soon after he crossed the finish line.

I made him pose for this picture with his bike.

The next day was Father's Day and we spent the day in Wilmington with family and celebrating cousin Caroline's 7th birthday.  The girls loved swimming in the pool and playing with their cousins.  David spent his Father's Day (and an early 40th birthday gift to himself) at the US Open in Pinehurst.

Poor Margo took a bad fall off the electric scooter as soon as we got home that evening.  She had a really bad facial abrasion.  It's been almost two weeks now and it is looking better.  It's still slightly reddened, but it is healing nicely.  I'll spare the world wide web the gory picture of when it happened (although all of our family has seen that one). Just take my word for it....it was BAD!

Lydia is doing swim team again this summer.  She had her first meet on David's 40th birthday.  That's how he spent most of his evening--timing her swim meet.

See him sporting his Smithfield Sharks t-shirt and some 40 glasses.  We were able to have some cake and get a few pics before bedtime.

The big 4-0.  We had a party last weekend to celebrate his 40th.  I will try to do a post on that separately.  Most of the pics I took at the party are on my other camera and I'm just using iphone pics for this post.

Last Sunday night Madeline and I had a mom and me date to the Katy Perry concert in Raleigh.  I was burning up the road this particular weekend.  My daddy was in the hospital for a blood clot and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go with Madeline.  Luckily, everything worked out and I was able to take her.  And my daddy is now home and doing better.

We had pretty good seats and were actually able to see what was going on backstage from where we were sitting. Madeline enjoyed that part a lot. She had a good time and I was glad we got to spend the evening together.  This concert was part of her 12th birthday present from March.

More swim meets this week!  I looked over the other night and Lydia was karate chopping some guy's back!  She is such a social butterfly.  I think she enjoys the social aspect of swim team a lot more that actually swimming!  When I asked her what she was doing, she told me he needed a massage.

Since Margo had her facial injury we didn't go to the pool for several days after it happened.  But we have been this week!  Margo loves to swim and and she loves to do cannonballs.  Just look at the expression on her face.  This describes her to a tee----wide open!

The pool felt great!

We took Brayden with us one day.  Look at all the cousins with their goggles on!

This pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right about now.  It's 12:15 am and I am FINALLY doing a blog post, and thinking of about a hundred other things I need to be doing.  We have Lydia's piano recital in the morning and Margo's birthday tea party on Sunday.  Another busy weekend and lots of memories to be made.

Bear with me--I will try to update.  Things and events might not be in order, but better late than never, right?!?!

Memorial Day, Piano and Doughnuts!

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend.  We enjoyed some cookouts with friends and family and we even went to the pool on opening day.

We had dinner and ice cream at Hula Girl!

On May 31st, Lydia participated in the Piano Guild.  This was her fourth year participating.
With her piano teacher, Mr. Buddy.

She played Spinning Song and earned a 97% which is a Superior rating.  She also had to play three scales with arpeggios.  She was so proud of herself.  I told her she should be!  I'm proud of her too.  She loves piano and has a natural ear for it.

Later that afternoon I took Madeline, Lydia and Faith to see Maleficent.  It was great!  In fact, we just saw it again this weekend with Girl Scouts.

Last Sunday we met Grammie and PaPa in Rocky Mount for lunch at K&W.  The girls always love sitting in these openings of the columns outside the restaurant.

We did a little shopping and then went to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts.

The HOT NOW sign was on!

Had to get them sugared up for the ride home.

Watching the doughnuts.

Awwww

I stocked up on sunscreen at Ollie's...$3.98 a can.  I love a good bargain.

The girls have been enjoying playing outside in the sprinkler and on the slip N slide.  Madeline was taking a break.  I think this is as close as Jack will get to the beach this summer, HaHa!

Annie got a new bed and it's big enough for baby brother, too!  Actually, this was a rare moment that they both were on her bed posing.  He can usually be found snuggled up next to Madeline under the covers.

Dance Recital 2014

Well now that we are well into the month of June, I'm finally getting up some recital pictures.  The dance rectial was on May 17th.  Madeline, Margo and I were in the recital!

Madeline after a long night!

Look how tired Margo is.  David said she was almost falling asleep toward the end when my clogging group was on stage and he had to wake her up!

Madeline and the Coats girls are DONE!!!!

Kelly and I got flowers too!!!

Now....back to the beginning of the recital:

Miss Sassafrass

Margo and Addison

Margo loves her some Brianna.  She always puts her in a headlock!

Margo's tap group getting ready to perform "It's A Small World" in the opening act.

Part of the Acrobatics class!  Margo loves to flip and turn and this was her favorite class at dance this year.

The three amigos!

Ballerina beauties ready to dance to "Carolina In My Mind."

This is the only picture I got of Madeline at the recital in her costume.  She didn't want me taking a picture, so I had to be sneaky.

Part of my clogging group.  We had fun learning to clog this year and we all made it through our routine on stage!

We didn't do too bad for old folks ;)

All the dancers did a great job and we are proud of our girls!

I finally got around to taking some pictures of Madeline in her clogging costume.

She looks so grown!

Even though dance season has ended, she is always clogging around the house.

Here are a few of Margo in her Acro costume, showing off some of her tricks!

FUN TIMES!
This is pretty much what Margo does all day long!!!
