June 13th was the last day of school for the girls. Here's Madeline on her last day of 6th grade....posing with Jack, of course.
And Lydia and Margo were excited about the last day. Lydia wanted to wear the outfit she wore on the first day of 4th grade. Thank goodness for leggings, because the dress is several inches shorter now. The big girls did great on their EOG's. They all got great report cards and end of the year awards. Lydia even got inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society. So proud of our smart cookies! Lydia and Margo have a pretty short summer. They will start back on July 21st as 1st and 5th graders. Madeline will start back at the end of August.
This was the scene when I went through the carpool line at the middle school on the last day of school. All of the teachers and staff were lined up outside waving goodbye to all the students.
The next day David participated in the Three Little Pigs Triathlon (as he has done for the past several years). He had family participating too (cousin, spouses of cousins, brother-in-law). Here are the girls with David soon after he crossed the finish line.
I made him pose for this picture with his bike.
The next day was Father's Day and we spent the day in Wilmington with family and celebrating cousin Caroline's 7th birthday. The girls loved swimming in the pool and playing with their cousins. David spent his Father's Day (and an early 40th birthday gift to himself) at the US Open in Pinehurst.
Poor Margo took a bad fall off the electric scooter as soon as we got home that evening. She had a really bad facial abrasion. It's been almost two weeks now and it is looking better. It's still slightly reddened, but it is healing nicely. I'll spare the world wide web the gory picture of when it happened (although all of our family has seen that one). Just take my word for it....it was BAD!
Lydia is doing swim team again this summer. She had her first meet on David's 40th birthday. That's how he spent most of his evening--timing her swim meet.
See him sporting his Smithfield Sharks t-shirt and some 40 glasses. We were able to have some cake and get a few pics before bedtime.
The big 4-0. We had a party last weekend to celebrate his 40th. I will try to do a post on that separately. Most of the pics I took at the party are on my other camera and I'm just using iphone pics for this post.
Last Sunday night Madeline and I had a mom and me date to the Katy Perry concert in Raleigh. I was burning up the road this particular weekend. My daddy was in the hospital for a blood clot and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go with Madeline. Luckily, everything worked out and I was able to take her. And my daddy is now home and doing better.
We had pretty good seats and were actually able to see what was going on backstage from where we were sitting. Madeline enjoyed that part a lot. She had a good time and I was glad we got to spend the evening together. This concert was part of her 12th birthday present from March.
More swim meets this week! I looked over the other night and Lydia was karate chopping some guy's back! She is such a social butterfly. I think she enjoys the social aspect of swim team a lot more that actually swimming! When I asked her what she was doing, she told me he needed a massage.
Since Margo had her facial injury we didn't go to the pool for several days after it happened. But we have been this week! Margo loves to swim and and she loves to do cannonballs. Just look at the expression on her face. This describes her to a tee----wide open!
The pool felt great!
We took Brayden with us one day. Look at all the cousins with their goggles on!
This pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right about now. It's 12:15 am and I am FINALLY doing a blog post, and thinking of about a hundred other things I need to be doing. We have Lydia's piano recital in the morning and Margo's birthday tea party on Sunday. Another busy weekend and lots of memories to be made.
Bear with me--I will try to update. Things and events might not be in order, but better late than never, right?!?!
