Nights out with Friends

Margo's Girl Scout troop went to see the theater production of Mary Poppins in Raleigh.

The girls enjoyed the show and especially like taking pics with the props.

Margo and Mama

Bri and Carrie

BFFs

Selfie time

Outside Memorial Auditorium....they loved the show and we caught them singing along to several of the songs.

Madeline, Alyssa, Sherry and I at the Dierks Bentley concert at Walnut Creek

The girls had fun

And so did the mamas.  The tickets were free thanks to some flub-up with Ticketmaster.  The only bad thing was that we pretty much parked at I-40!  Took 20 mins to walk to the venue.  Oh well, at least we got our exercise!

Piled up!

Back to School for Margo (July 2016)

Margo Started back school on July 21st.  She is a 3rd grader now!

I had a recertification class for work that morning, so David and Madeline took Margo to school and Madeline took all these pictures for me.

Margo and Bri with their matching backpacks and lunchboxes from last year.  Glad they are getting another year's use out of them.

First assignment of the day!

With her teacher Miss Moore.  This picture was taken at orientation a few nights prior to the first day of school.

She also has Mrs. Barnes for reading.  Madeline had Mrs. Barnes in 5th grade and she is related to us on the Grimes side of the family, so that makes her extra special!!

Beach Week 2016

We spent a week at Pine Knoll Shores in July.

Lots of pool and beach time!

We spent a day with our friends the Westbrooks at Cape Lookout.  It was a fun day.

Dinner at sunset at one of our favorite restaurants.....McCurdy's in Atlantic Beach

Margo is all about emojis and loved trying on these glasses at a beach store.

Lydia found this cute hat to try on.

Little surfer girl

Another favorite restaurant of ours....Amos Mosquitos

Yummy lobster dip

The girls love going to the Sweet Spot (candy store) in Emerald Isle and stocking up on candy

I took the girls' pics by the Atlantic Beach Pier this year and they turned out really good.

Posing....they are not fond of me taking the yearly beach pics

Selfie time

Just a swingin'

Margo doing more pool tricks

Ice cream is a beach essential

We always enjoy going to Beaufort and walking along the waterfront.

We went to the movies at the beach.  Margo, Madeline and I went to see Secret Life of Pets.

David and Lydia went to see Ghostbusters

After dinner at the Front Street Grille in Beaufort

SHARK!!!! Thank goodness this one was dead when he washed up on the beach.  It was quite the conversation piece.

Our daily beach setup

Lots of lovely sunsets

Our traditional family pose on the sofa on the last day.  As always, it was a great trip and went by way too fast.  Looking forward to next summer!

Margo Goes to Camp:::July 2016

Margo went to camp this summer for the first time as a camper.  She went for half-week starter camp with her friend Grier.  Margo has been to Camp Don Lee several times to take or pick up her sisters and family/church camping trips.  But this time was special.  This was a pic from Madeline's phone on the way to camp.

We took Flat Jesus to Camp

Of course, Mother Madeline had to go to drop her off and get her settled in her cabin.

In front of the cross on the pier.....a traditional picture at CDL

It was a pretty day, but hot.  Thank goodness for the breeze coming from the water.

Love seeing all the sunfish lined up

My little camper

Pointing to our family's brick for a donation that we made to CDL

I have a picture of Margo in this very spot as a baby....I need to find it and do a comparison.

She was so excited

See us sparkling with sweat!!

Heading to the cabin

She picked a top bunk and brought her emoji pillow

All settled!

With her good friend Grier.  They had a blast and said they want to go back next year for a week.

With her counselor Miss Heather

Another sweaty selfie, hahaha

There were some other girls from our church staying with Margo and Grier.  It was nice to have familiar faces.

Getting their orders from their counselor....about to take the swim test.

I love this field of sunflowers  near the camp.
Such a happy, sunkissed girl when we picked her up.

She even lost a tooth while there.  That was the first thing she told me when she saw me!

Of course we had to spend the rest of her camp store money for a treat for the road.  We left camp and headed straight to the beach!!!
