We spent a few weeks giving our kitchen cabinets a makeover. After researching prices for new cabinets and refacing, we decided to do it ourselves! This picture is the finished product.
I painted the cabinets a nice crisp white, which was a huge improvement by itself. We added some dimension to our boring, flat, 1970's cabinets by adding beadboard wallpaper and then framing the doors and drawers with thin strips of wood. (Thank you Pinterest for the idea). And thank you, David. You have become quite the handyman! It was a tedious job and our kitchen was a mess for a few weeks, but it was worth it.
We also changed out the drawer pulls and spray painted the umpteen door knobs and hinges to save money.
The white paint really brightened things up.
I also painted the walls a soft gray color.
Here is a before pic of the plain, almond colored cabinets.
This is another before pic from when we first looked at the house before purchasing.
Another view on our first walkthrough. I'm happy to report both of the light fixtures have been updated as well.
